2025 Red Planet Software Outback Air Race

Matt and Drew - Team 44 - 8ME took part in the 2025 Outback Air Race in support of the Royal Flying Doctor Service from 22nd August to the 8th September. They flew a 1963 Beechcraft Debonair which they also flew around the USA in 2024.


Matt is from Brisbane, and Drew lives in Park City, Utah USA. Both are private pilots. The Debonair is hangared at Ultimate Aero.


They joined 40 other teams at Yulara, NT, flying through some of the most remote places in Australia, across the top end and around the rugged WA coast to Carnarvon. Returning to Brisbane via the southern coastline, covering a distance of over 6500 nautical miles (12,000km).


Locations visited enroute included Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Daly Waters, Katherine (Tindal), Kununurra, Broome, Onslow and Exmouth.


The Outback Air Race raised in total $1,000,000, for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
