Ultimate Aero recently welcomed a group of students from the Southport State School. The students are undertaking a Career Employment Australia’s Certificate II In Engineering Pathways – Aviation / Aerospace. This initiative was implemented by teacher and pilot Mark Franzi. It has given Mark an opportunity to share his love and passion for aviation with potential pilots and aircraft engineers of the future.

This course is an exciting pilot study which will hopefully be rolled out to more schools in the future. Students visit various industry workshops and businesses as part of their Certificate, gaining a real-world insight into the aviation industry.

They are also gaining those very important hands-on skills by building a replica Sopwith Camel.

Teacher Mark Franzi is the drive behind this program. Mark was an Australian Defence Force Combat Medic and undertook numerous aero-medical evacuation missions. He gained his Private Pilot’s License in 1984. In 2006 he gained his Recreational Pilot’s Certificate through Recreational Aviation Australia. Mark is currently the proud owner of a Piper Tomahawk.
